PREM and Merkopaino merge
PREM (Suomenselän Laminointi Oy) has bought the majority of the shares of Merkopaino Oy on 30.11.2023. Markus Sellmer remains the CEO of Merkopaino Oy as he owns a minority stake in the company’s shares. When combined, the combined annual turnover of the companies in the previous confirmed fiscal year (2022) is €1.8 million, employing a total of 10 people. Together PREM and Merkopaino Oy are one of the largest companies in Northern Europe and the Baltics specializing in special effects for printed products, with decades of experience and history in the field.
Both companies started their operations in the 70s and focused on effects, coatings and special printing for sheet products. PREM is located in the Otava Graphical Village in Keuruu, Central Finland, and Merkopaino Oy is located in Hermanni, Helsinki. PREM and Merkopaino Oy were part of the same group in the 1980s. The operations were separated in 1991. Both companies have developed a large, loyal and stable customer base over the decades.
“Merkopaino Oy is a well-managed and experienced expert in the business. It is a pleasure to be able to develop activities together. The synergy benefits in the merger are considerable. We get to combine the know-how and machinery of both locations for joint use. For customers, the merger will be seen as better supply security, a wider product range, better service and higher quality end products. A larger combined machinery enables optimization of the workflow. Being a bigger entity enables the continuity of investments and services.” says PREM’s Teemu Pärnänen.
“I’m looking forward to the reunion. PREM is a family-owned and solvent company that has been operating in the industry for a long time. The operation can be developed together with the new owner, who has worked in the field for a long time, and Keuruu’s personnel. The benefits for customers are significant as we are able to expand the services and see internally where the work is most efficient to do. It is important to me that the new main owner wants to develop operations in Helsinki. It serves the interests of our long-term and important customers.” commented Markus Sellmer of Merkopaino.
PREM’s Keuruu and Merkopaino’s Helsinki offices will continue to operate as before. The merger does not require changes or measures from customers. All questions related to the merger are requested to be directed to Teemu Pärnänen. Contact information below.
